This report was established for the Martinsville/Henry County region of Virgnia and outlines what a food system is and how it can build health, wealth,connection, and capacity around food and farming at the community and regional levels. Consumer demand for locally grown and sourced food is unprecedented. The Martinsville region has the acreage, labor, and convenient market access to capitalize on this community economic development opportunity as a means to address economic recovery, promote health, and enhance long-term community resilience and quality of life.
