Project Description

The Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission was created by the General Assembly in 1999 to use proceeds of the national tobacco settlement to promote economic growth, revitalization and diversification of the 40 counties and cities in Virginia’s tobacco-growing region. For the past 17 years Tim has managed the Commission’s grant programs that have awarded more than $1.1 billion to date for a wide array of projects including technology and industrial parks, post-secondary workforce education, advanced manufacturing, research & development, healthcare, broadband networks, agribusiness, tourism, revolving loan funds, etc. (see www.revitalizeva.org).

Prior to joining the Commission, Tim was with the Virginia Department of Housing & Community Development for 15 years, after beginning his career with M&T Bank in its market research department. He holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor in Economics from the University of Michigan.
