Business and Marketing Specialist, Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services

Heather Wheeler is the Virginia Grown Program Manager at the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services where she partners with producers, farmers market managers, farmers market vendors and buyers across the state of Virginia to promote fresh, local products and to enhance the marketing opportunities for those products. In addition to that role, Heather is also the Program Manager for the Virginia Horse Industry Board and serves on the Virginia State Team for Agritourism as an Agritourism Marketing Specialist. Heather has an educational background in business administration, business management and accounting and she combines that with a true passion for agriculture and working with those in the industry. Heather also owns Bit of Whimsy Farm in Spotsylvania County which is home not only to her horses but it is also where she raises Dwarf Nigerian and Pygmy Goats, Guinea Hogs, chickens and turkeys.
