Gavin is currently the Director of Planning for the Mount Rogers Planning District Commission, functioning as the grant manager for regional planning-based projects, as well as community infrastructure-based projects, and is involved regionally in grant writing and management assistance pertaining mostly to economic development, downtown revitalization, and housing rehabilitation projects utilizing funding through organizations including Virginia DHCD, Virginia DOT, Virginia Tourism Corporation, EDA, and the USDA. Gavin has also served as the Town Manager/Zoning Administrator for the Town of Damascus since November 2014, immersing himself in community building at the local level.
On a more personal level, Gavin coaches cross country for his local high school, enjoys running and hiking in the Mount Rogers Recreation Area, landscaping projects with natice plants and local materials, home renovation projects, twisting mountain roads, and spending time with friends and family. Gavin also serves on the Board of Directors for the Blue Ridge Discovery Center.
